The ceremony of lighting the fire of the Pan-Armenian Games took place in Armenia (an international competition in which Armenian athletes from all over the world participate).

The torch relay of the Pan-Armenian Games started on the territory of the Armenian ancient monastery "Khor Virap", which is located at the foot of the biblical Mount Ararat.

The Olympic flame was lit by the champion of Rio 2016, a Greco-Roman style wrestler Artur Aleksanyan.

This year, two more symbolic torches will be lit in Western Armenia - at the foot of Musa-Dag, and in Tigranakert, Artsakh. All three torches will be reunited at the opening ceremony of the games on August 6 in Stepanakert.

Pan-Armenian Games were first held in 1999. Armenian sportsmen from Armenia, Artsakh and all Armenian communities of the world compete in various sports in them.
